Apple delays the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, to meet demand for iPhone 6 success
The launch of the 12.9-inch iPad is pushed back to make way for the growing demand of the newly released iPhone 6 plus handset. Recent estimates suggest 21 million iPhones 6 sold during launch fortnight and over 4 million units in the pipeline. The iPhone 6 Plus’s popularity has outgrown expectations causing disturbances among manufacturers to produce enough screens. According to a report from Foxconn, one of Apple’s suppliers in China, they’re having difficulties hiring personnel to deal with the massive order from Apple.
The rumored launch of a larger 12.9-inch iPad is set for next year. It is said to offer 76 percent bigger screen area than the current models now. The rumored split screen functionality could also make its way onto the new iPad, allowing users to use 2 apps side by side.
Apple hasn’t released an updated iPad since last autumn, when it introduced the iPad Air and Mini. The company is expected to reveal the 12.9-inch iPad Pro tablet at the same time with the new iMac with Ultra HD “Retina” display.
